FASHION WEEKS

Oscar Wilde, a noted novelist and critic, once quoted “Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months”. Fashion is something that changes so often that one really needs to be awake and alert to keep pace with the dynamic nature of fashion trends. This is not the case with Style. Style is something that should be profound and should talk about the person. Style is eternal, but Fashion fades very easily. But how does fashion change so fast? Why do you have to keep modifying your wardrobe to stay fashion-conscious? One of the primary reasons for this is the emergence of Fashion weeks. Fashion weeks primarily govern the current fashion trends and the future trends as well.

A Fashion week, usually held every six months, is a kind of fashion festival wherein fashion designers from all over the world come together to showcase their designs in front of the world. There are ramp shows stylishly organized to launch new collections of several high profile fashion designers. Although Fashion weeks are held throughout the world, some countries which are very popular for fashion weeks are United States, India, Italy, Germany and Singapore. Fashion weeks are all about big people, big brands and big money. When you talk about the audience, it can be said that fashion weeks are always dominated by high society elite people and even the designs on display are crafted keeping in mind their sense of dressing.

The success of a fashion week depends on many factors, the quality of the collection on display, the brand value of the designer, to name a few. But the most important role is played by the models. Models need to talented and trained enough to carry the dresses well. Any ramp show of a fashion week is incomplete without the presence of a ‘showstopper’. The showstopper is a supermodel or a celebrity, a personality who is quite well-known in the public. A showstopper is basically responsible for ending a ramp show in style.
